Ain't Technology Grand?

Remy hooked us up today. The laptop is now wireless. I can take it anywhere in this house and still have an internet connection. We were able to connect to the internet in the living room before, but not without running a lengthy, hideous, yellow blue LAN cable across the living room floor. Now I can surf, blog, etc. while cooking, in bed, on the head…connectivity is awesome.

Wow thats great! I’ve been wanting a laptop for awhile now, and I especially want it to be wireless so I can move all over the house. How does that work?

I thought you might enjoy that category, remy.

Bonnie, I’m going to have to refer you to my lovely hubby for the technodetails. remy, would you?

I have no idea how it works. I believe it shoots random ‘1’s and ‘0’s through the air, and the mouthtop has a microscopic ‘mouth’ whith which it consumes them, and spits the appropriate ‘1’s and ‘0’s back at the internet.

All I can tell you is you need a wireless router. I got mine from newegg:
    http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?description=33-122-011&depa=1
And a wirless PCMCIA card. Also from newegg:

All that only works IF you have a high speed internet connection (I’ve done setups on cable and DSL). If you’re on dial-up, you’re boned as far as I know.
