What's New?

Well, I thought my Photo Gallery was back up and running, but I just tried to upload some pictures and it is still toast. I’m not sure when I’ll have time to repair it, so for the time being, I’ve uploaded the latest pix to my Flickr account. I had been avoiding switching to Flickr because I like being able to organize my pictures into neet and tidy photo albums and the free Flickr account has some major limitations…but it is working…so I’m going to run with it.
Smiley Bear

This weekend has been pretty exciting in our house. Gabe is 6 months old! Can you believe it? He’s half way to that one-year birthday. He’s been a blast this weekend too. He learned how to roll over…all the way. He has been rolling over from his back to his belly for a while, but he wasn’t able to get back onto his back. Now, he can roll all the way over. Which is exciting but presents an interesting dilema. If he’s left alone for any period of time, he can basically roll himself all over the entire room. It was a little bit easier when he was stationary. You didn’t have to worry about leaving him on the couch or changing table for a moment. Not any more. But it was so exciting to see for the first time. He needs to work on the landing a bit. He thwacks his head on the floor each time he rolls onto his back. It is amazing to me that he doesn’t cry or even seem to notice.

We’ve also been working with him on sitting up. He isn’t there yet, but while using one of his new toys, he was able to keep himself upright for the longest we’ve seen him sit up yet.

The final new thing happened today. While playing with him today, I was making rasberry noises when I saw him strain, contort his little mouth and make a rasberry of his own. We went back and forth doing that for a while. It was so much fun…but you know what this means? It means that he’s really truly learning from us. Everything we say and do will make some impact on him. Oh crap, I wasn’t quite ready for that yet. 🙂

  1. Reading how you feel about your son just makes my heart melt. All those times you looked at other people’s children with that look…. you are such an amazing mom, Jen. In fact you three are an amazing family.

  2. Gul dern kids these days with their rollin’ and raspberries! If you thought you had to be careful what you accidentally taught Baby (bird). Wow… You’ve got some fun times ahead.

I love hearing your first time parent stories!! Love it!
