I Wouldn’t Change A Thing

Times are changing. Something so simple…like getting ready in the morning is an interesting challenge.

Then (pre-Gabe)
1. Get up and going by 6:30 am.
2. Shower.
3. Hair.
4. Make-Up.
5. Leave for work.

Now
1. Get up when Gabe wakes up. (Sometime between 3AM-5AM)
2. Give Gabe his “wake-up” bottle” & get a much needed cup of coffee for me.
3. Change Gabe’s diaper.
4. Put Gabe in the walker and block all dangerous areas.
5. Take shower, and step out to find that Gabe has managed to get his walker lodged into our tiny bathroom to wait for Mom to get out of the shower.
6. Take Gabe out of the walker and put him on the living room floor.
7. Blow-dry hair.
8. Check on Gabe. Unlodge his hand from the VCR.
9. Get Gabe and I breakfast.
10. Feed Gabe, while my food gets cold.
11. Pick at my cold eggs and eventually give them to Taz-Cee. The toast was still edible though.
12. Get dressed.
13. Check on Gabe. Force him to let go of Taz-Cee’s tail.
14. Fix my hair.
15. Check on Gabe. Move him back to the living room, so poor Reba can get out of the corner he’s backed her into.
16. Put on my make up.
17. Check on Gabe and find out why he’s screaming at a wooden spoon. Change his diaper.
18. It is now close to 7:00 am, if not later. Pick Gabe up and hang out with him on the couch for a little while.
19. Wake up at 7:25 am and freak out, because I have to leave in 5 minutes, if I’m going to make it to work on time.
20. Put Gabe in bed.
21. Run around the house, frantically trying to find my purse, shoes and keys.
22. Kiss my husband and son “goodbye”.
23. Head to work, 15 minutes late.
24. Day dream about how wonderful my son, husband, family and life are all the way to work.

Thank God for there’s magic for a while
A special kind of sunshine in a smile
Do you ever stop to think? or wonder why?
The nearest thing to Heaven is a child
