Big Boy Bed

The first night in the “big boy bed” was a smashing success. We put the bed together in the evening and then we spent some time playing in it and teaching Gabe that it was his bed. We typically read, cuddle or sing before bedtime…so Daddy read Gabe a book and then asked him to go to his bed. Well, he went to our bed, but that isn’t entirely unusual, since we’ve been known to cuddle in our bed and then take Gabe to his crib. So, we told him that it was time for him to go to his new bed…”Gabey’s bed”. So, he stood up so I could pick him up and take him to bed.

I took him to the new bed and laid him down…he made the tiniest little fussy noise…which once again is pretty normal. It is that last fight to try to not sleep. Then, we went downstairs and turned on the monitor only to hear no noise at all. Not a peep. I checked on him when I went to sleep and he was out cold. I typically wake up a couple of times in the night to use the restroom and I checked on him both times and he was fast asleep in his new bed. He woke up a little earlier than usual…but he does that sometime in the crib. He basically went through his usual wake-up noises. He cried a little then he started talking. We put one of his favorite stuffed kitty animals in the bed with him and he kept saying “cat” and “kitty” and he was counting the cats feet, “whon, oooh, eeee, fohr”. Then when he was tired of sitting there talking, he started to cry again. That is my queue to get him before he wakes up Daddy.

It was all so normal and routine that it was kind of bizzarre. No issues what-so-ever.
